Some pasted text hyperlinks become a non-hyperlink after saving

When I first pasted a hyperlinked text, it shows as a hyperlink text. However, after “saving” it converts into a markdown view that is non-clickable in the format below for example:

[This quarter’s Industry Insider](https://l.workplace.com/l.php)

This behavior does not apply to all hyperlinked text pasted but to some.
